9:1 Impedance Matching Network
for an End Fed Random Wire Antenna
Workshop Build-A-Thon
Saturday, March 2, 2024
9:00 am – 11:00 am
Ham Radio Outlet Training Room
(5710 W Good Hope Road, Milwaukee)
A simple to pack, simple to use portable antenna: operates on any band with this impedance matching transformer, a pre-determined length of random wire, and an antenna tuner. Great for portable use and HF EMCOMMS, The 9:1 impedance matching network acts as a transformer between your 50 ohm coaxial feedline and your random length wire. An antenna tuner smooths out the SWR. If the wire is cut for 84 feet with a 17 foot counterpoise, it will operate effortlessly from 80 meters through 10 meters.
